It is of course the now veteran centre back who made a surprising full return to first team action at Old Trafford, Jonny Evans. After joining United for their preseason tour this summer, his efforts were rewarded with a year contract at the club which came in useful during a period of injury crisis in the United defence, putting Evans at the forefront of Ten Hag’s back line.
