POTM: PL (November 2025)

November has been much like the months prior with it’s disjointed nature, with the domestic season ticking away as the league still takes shape, teams are still finding their standings and the other competitions in domestic cups, international football and European games perhaps takes away some of the attention in the opening weeks. However, in November it stopped being considered the start of the season, and now the excuses are no longer accepted as teams must find a way to win.
This months NextGoalWinner player of the month winner hasn’t been able to get his team to a 100% winning record, and only managed 2 wins from 4, but his individual contributions haven’t faltered, with 5 goals in 4 games as he produced some strong showings to get his team some much needed wins that see them looking comfortable in mid-table.
Igor Thiago has become a real talismanic figure for Brentford who have lost several big players and figures in the last few windows. Thiago has made a fairly strong start to the season thus far as he takes the lead as their front-man, but this last month of action saw him bag 5 goals in 4 games as he becomes a real spearhead for their attacking line.

Match By Match
November 1st: Crystal Palace 2-0 Brentford – Opening up the month of action, Brentford suffered their first of 2 defeats this month, however this game was the only clash that Thiago failed to score in. While this didn’t suggest he was in the running for a solid month of performances it’s fair to say the best was still to come.
November 9th: Brentford 3-1 Newcastle United – And it did against Newcastle, as Thiago bagged a brace in the dominant display against a tricky Newcastle side. With his 2 goals being the difference, Brentford picked up a big win and moved further into their mid-table safe position.
November 22nd: Brighton & Hove Albion 2-1 Brentford – With the ups and downs of the month, they struggled again away from home as they were beaten at Brighton, but Thiago did still find the back of the net in this one. While it couldn’t result in any points on the board, it still suggested his run of form was becoming a bit of a hot-streak.
November 29th: Brentford 3-1 Burnley – And the hot-streak continued in their most comfortable win of the month, beating Burnley at home. While this was certainly their most winnable clash of the month, Thiago again bagged a brace to be the difference maker as they produced their 2nd win from 4, a 100% home record and for Thiago individually his 4th and 5th goal of the month in just 4 games. While Brentford will be keen to resolve their away form issue of this last few weeks, Thiago will be hoping to continue along a similar vein of form.
