POTM: PL (February 2026)

While February is the shortest month of the year, it’s been a packed footballing schedule with domestic, European and cup games blending to make a busy period as the new year fresh start turns into the final run-in phase of the campaign. As a result, we’ve had plenty of action to pick out our player of the month award for February’s Premier League action.

Benjamin Sesko has been a huge impact player for Manchester United in the Michael Carrick tenure, with the interim manager using his star striker often from the bench to arrive late on and produce match winning or point securing goals which has turned a temporary spell for the club amid a poor season, into a potential long-term appointment with 3rd spot looking like a genuine goal for the season. With 3 goals in 4 games and just 83 minutes of game time, he has been a huge factor in Manchester United’s unbeaten run.

Match By Match

February 1st: Manchester United 3-2 Fulham – Opening the month, Sesko made the difference when it looked like the points were to be shared. In what had been a comfortable 2-0 lead for United suddenly becoming 2-2, Sesko bagged the 90+4 minute winner which kick-started a month of cameo goals and late difference making moments, while this kind of situation is what United legends are built on.

February 7th: Manchester United 2-0 Tottenham Hotspur – As his only appearance without a goal, Sesko came on late with the game already pretty comfortable given United’s dominance over 10-man Spurs. While Sesko might rue a few missed opportunities in this late period of the game, 3 points and another run-out gave him a fairly decent showing.

February 10th: West Ham United 1-1 Manchester United – With Manchester United trailing, Sesko arrived with an equalising goal which saved a point in a valuable manner given the break that followed. With his 90+6 minute goal, Sesko brought his total up to 5 in 2026 despite being limited to late cameos since mid-January.

February 23rd: Everton 0-1 Manchester United – With a near 2 week break between games, Sesko’s late efforts against West Ham didn’t earn him the start, however Carrick’s decision paid off once again, as Sesko arrived with just 32 minutes left on the clock, and the Slovenian forward bagged his 3rd in 4 appearances to seal all 3 points in what had turned into a scrappy game. With a huge run in 2026, this cameo reputation is one that means he gets the plaudits while his wait for a start under Carrick goes on.
