POTM (Premier League) – February 2025

February saw another busy month of action, with league football, domestic cups and European football all kicking into high gear as the season enters its final phase. With lots of action to cover from the month, and with games taking place almost daily, there were another few key standouts from the month in the Premier League.

This months NextGoalWinner player of the month winner is a player who has become almost a regular fixture in these POTM posts, as he claims another recognition for a remarkable season which despite his club losing a chance for an unprecedented quadruple, the league performances have all-but sealed a Premier League title.

Mo Salah has been a non-stop goal threat in February, and across the 7 games played in the month, bagged 7 goals including 6 straight league goals, and 5 assists for the month. With 10 goal contributions across his 6 Premier League appearances, he continues to show his quality as a leader and superstar attacking talent with potential for this to become a season best run.

Match By Match

February 1st: Bournemouth 0-2 Liverpool – Starting off the month in style, Salah put in his first MOTM performance as he opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 30th minute, before securing the win in the 75th minute with his second goal of the game. Having bagged a brace, drawn the most fouls, produced 100% cross accuracy and received a 9.2/10 FotMob rating, it was a terrific start to an even more incredible month to come.

February 12th: Everton 2-2 Liverpool – After their terrific Carabao comeback to reach the final of the League Cup in which Salah bagged another goal and an assist to secure a dominant 4-0 win, there was a chaotic Merseyside derby for the final time at Goodison Park, and Salah was again showing his quality. Setting up the first Liverpool goal to bring the scores level in the 16th minute, Salah then put his side in front in the 73rd minute before the final minute drama and everything that ensued. With his 2nd straight league MOTM showing, Salah continued his scoring run, created the most chances (2), completed the most dribbles (4), had 100% shot accuracy and cross accuracy, earning an 8.7/10 FotMob rating.

February 16th: Liverpool 2-1 Wolverhampton Wanderers – After the stumble against Everton, Salah proved to be the difference maker as his penalty in the 37th minute resulted in Liverpool claiming all 3 points against Wolves despite a second half comeback attempt. Salah had one of his quietest performances of the month despite his winner, but still maintained 100% dribble success, won 100% tackles and still managed a 7.7/10 FotMob rating.

February 19th: Aston Villa 2-2 Liverpool – With Liverpool’s unbeaten month continuing, it was another draw they had to settle for as Liverpool travelled to Villa Park. Salah once again proved crucial to the point as he opened the scoring in the 29th minute, and then provided the assist in the 61st minute which brought the scores back level. In his 3rd MOTM outing in the league, Salah’s scoring run extended to 7 straight games in all competitions.

February 23rd: Manchester City 0-2 Liverpool – Yet another goal and assist as Liverpool travelled over to Manchester to all-but claim the title at the Etihad against a team that have damaged their title hopes in past seasons. His 4th and final MOTM showing for the month was worthy of an 8.8/10 FotMob rating, as he helped Liverpool cruise to victory. With 1 goal, 1 assist he also managed 100% shot accuracy and won 100% of his aerial duels.

February 26th: Liverpool 2-0 Newcastle United – Rounding off an unreal month of goals and assists, Salah brought up assist number 5 and ended his 8 game scoring run. Although Szoboszlai took the MOTM award on this occasion, Salah’s efforts were still key as he managed 100% long ball accuracy and 100% aerial duels won along with his assist for Liverpool’s second goal. With non-stop goal contributions continuing across the month, Salah was unmatched in his consistent quality and output.
