POTM: Europe (October 2025)

October saw another busy month of footballing action across Europe, with leagues taking shape, European competition getting into gear, domestic cups kicking off and the international break to sandwich all the action. As a result, we’ve had plenty of action to digest and work through as we pick out POTM.

This months NextGoalWinner player of the month winner was prolific in front of goal, as his 3 goals and 1 assist, led to 3 wins from 3 in La Liga, including a potentially huge impactful result against their title rivals.

Kylian Mbappe has continued to be prolific in front of goal this season, after last year hitting 43 goals in 56 games, he’s already bagged 15 for the season. With Madrid looking in control of La Liga after this months results, it’s been a strong showing as silverware surely awaits this season.

Match By Match

October 4th: Real Madrid 3-1 Villarreal – Opening the months action, Mbappe bagged the 3rd in the 3-1 win over Villarreal, brushing aside any thoughts of a late fightback from the visitors. Mbappe also provided for Vinicius earlier in the game, and so started the month with 1 goal, 1 assist and a strong 8.7/10 FotMob rating.

October 19th: Getafe 0-1 Real Madrid – on the other side of the international break in which Mbappe was again involved, bagging a goal and assist in the dominant win over Azerbaijan, the away trip to Getafe proved tricky, but Mbappe’s winner saw the visitors over the line. Shortly after the first red card for Getafe, Mbappe bagged in the 80th minute to keep Madrid on track. With 7 shots on goal through the game, it was bound to provide a reward eventually, and it took until late, but still a strong result with Mbappe earning a MOTM 8.3/10 FotMob rating.

October 26th: Real Madrid 2-1 Barcelona – After a close clash with Juventus in which Mbappe had his only appearance without getting on the scoresheet this month, they faced off against rivals Barcelona in El Classico, a game which could be a difference maker in terms of the title race in Spain. Mbappe bagged the opener in the 22nd minute, before the rest of the half continued with goals for either side, leading to a 2-1 victory for the hosts, putting them in cruise control of the title race as things stand. Mbappe did miss from the spot, but his goal, 5 shots and 91% pass accuracy still have him a respectable and important 7.7/10 FotMob rating.
