POTM (Europe) – May 2025

May saw the culmination of the 2024/2025 season and while most of the key league placings had already been confirmed leading into the month, there were still plenty of teams putting in a strong showing as they looked to close out their season in style across Europe. As a result, we were treated to some intriguing clashes between clubs and players leaving every bit of effort and energy on the pitch ahead of the summer break.
This months NextGoalWinner player of the month winner is a player who has been making his mark this season in his debut campaign in the Bundesliga, after leaving from the Premier League, the forward has been involved in 20 goals and assists in the debut campaign, while helping Bayern Munich restore themselves at the top of the German football pyramid.
Michael Olise has has a stellar end to a terrific debut campaign at Bayern, as he bagged 20 goals and assists in the season, with his final 3 games coming in May in which he bagged a goal and assist in each outing, 6 contributions across 3 90 minute efforts. With a record that sums up his season, he’s a deserving recipient for the final POTM for Europe this season.

May 3rd: RB Leipzig 3-3 Bayern Munich – Starting off the month with a tricky draw against Leipzig which delayed the title celebrations, Olise was key in helping Bayern turn around their first half 2-0 deficit, as he provided for Dier in the 62nd minute and then instantly got his side level seconds later. Despite losing the most duels (11), his goal and assist, along with 100% long ball accuracy and 100% aerial duel success led to a strong 8.4/10 FotMob opening rating.
May 10th: Bayern Munich 2-0 Borussia Monchengladbach – As Bayern finally got their hands on the Bundesliga title with mathematical success coming at home against Monchengladbach, they again had Olise to thank as he provided for the opening goal in the 31st minute, before adding the second and securing the win in the 90th minute. a 9.4/10 FotMob rating was his recognition as he bagged a goal and assist, created the most chances (8), completed the most dribbles (7) and drew the most fouls (2).
May 17th: Hoffenheim 0-4 Bayern Munich – After confirming their title success last time out, Bayern ended their domestic campaign with a trip to Hoffenheim, with Olise hitting yet another goal and assist performance, earning an 8.9/10 FotMob rating for the final outing. With creating the most chances (3), completing the most dribbles (3), 90% pass accuracy, 100% long ball accuracy and 100% tackles won, it was an all-round performance which sums up the importance of the 23 year old to Bayern’s overall domestic success in the Bundesliga this season.
