POTM: Europe (December 2025)

December 2025 saw a real mixed bag across Europe, as some leagues slow down, others hit full gear with the number of domestic and European games to be played. As a result, picking just one player from the busy schedule has been tricky, but we feel like our selection has rounded off their 2025 in style with their performances.
Harry Kane has not even stopped scoring during the Bundesliga brief Christmas break, as even with the slightly reduced workload in Germany, he has bagged 6 goals in 5 games across all competitions, with 5 from 3 in the domestic league where Bayern are in cruise control of the title race. With this solid end to the year, a big 2026 awaits with Bayern wanting to push on in the Champions League, and of course the upcoming summer World Cup where England’s hopes will be pinned on the striker.

Match By Match
December 6th: VfB Stuttgart 0-5 Bayern Munich – By December 6th, Bayern and Kane were already 1 win and 1 goal up after their DFB Pokal win against Union Berlin in which Kane bagged a goal, and he added another hat-trick in the complete dominance against Stuttgart. Having not even started the game, in the space of 22 minutes Kane got all 3 goals to secure a dominant display and ensure there was no risk of losing their lead at the top of the Bundesliga table, while it’s another hat-trick to Kane’s time in Germany.
December 14th: Bayern Munich 2-2 Mainz 05 – Although Kane hit his only blank in the Champions League win at home to Sporting, the return to domestic action did get him back on the scoresheet against Mainz, but without a win to round off his efforts. Kane’s 87th minute penalty earned Bayern a late point as they avoided dropping too many points in their title race lead, but it could give some hope to those in the chasing pack.
December 21st: FC Heidenheim 0-4 Bayern Munich – Rounding off the month, and the year, Bayern got themselves back to winning ways after the draw with Mainz. With a 4-0 hammering, Kane scored the final goal of the 4 as he claimed his 6th goal for the month, and added another record into the history books for his most goals scored in a calendar year with 51 and his 100th goal involvement in the Bundesliga from just 78 appearances. A superb year for Kane, which will hopefully continue onto 2026 and more silverware success for club (and country?).
