POTM: Europe (August 2025)

The football season is back! And already we’ve seen several rounds of fixtures across Europe before the pause for the international break, and while some squads are still being worked on until the closing stages of the window, several key players have already made a strong impact on the season, and made a choice of player of the month quite difficult.
This months NextGoalWinner player of the month winner is a player who ended his trophy drought last season, and while he missed out on European success in the Champions League and Club World Cup efforts, his contributions cannot be questioned, and already he’s shown exactly why in the early stages of this season.
Harry Kane has already added another trophy to last years Bundesliga win, with a Super Cup victory to open the season, before he then bagged 3 goals and 2 assists in the opening 2 league games for Bayern, in which the team scored 9 goals. If you add in his Super Cup and DFB-Pokal efforts, his tally thus far for the season has reached 4 appearances, 6 goals, 2 assists and 1 trophy as Bayern look as dominant as ever.

Match By Match
August 22nd: Bayern Munich 6-0 RB Leipzig – After the Super Cup win over Stuttgart in which Kane bagged 1 of Bayern’s 2 goals to bring some early silverware success, the league kick started with a dominant display over Leipzig at home for Bayern. With a lot of Leipzig’s talent being poached this summer, a rebuild is required within their setup, however Bayern didn’t show any mercy, as Kane bagged a hattrick to start his season and their quest to retain the league title. While also drawing the most fouls (5) and of course his 3 goals, the link-up play with the other attacking forces in the front line for Kompany’s side against a potentially tricky opponent made for the perfect start, in which Kane was awarded a 9.7/10 FotMob rating to start the season.
August 30th: Augsburg 2-3 Bayern Munich – After more cup success midweek as Bayern progressed in the DFB-Pokal against Wehen Wiesbaden in which Kane scored a brace including a 94th minute penalty to send Bayern through, the 2nd league outing saw an away trip to Augsburg in which Kane didn’t manage to get on the scoresheet directly for the first time in 4 games this month, but did assist both the 1st and 3rd strikes for Bayern as he showed he’s more than just a finisher for the German giants, and further enhanced the link-up with the likes of Gnabry and Olise as Bayern secured yet more goals, more drama and more wins for the month. Kane was man of the match for the 2nd time as he was given an 8.9/10 FotMob rating due to his assists and creating the most chances (4) in the game.
