POTM: Europe (April 2026)

April has been a hectic month of footballing action, with domestic leagues and cups either becoming wrapped up, or hitting a peak period of time as battles for final points and placings are making a huge end to the season. We also had the final international break of the season coming into April, and the European competitions certainly providing some added mid-week action. As a result, picking out POTM has been a tricky challenge, but we have gone for a player who has spearheaded his team through some crucial games in the last few weeks.

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has become one of the best additions to an elite club in recent memory, as his first full season at PSG has seen him bag 18 goals and 12 assists in 51 appearances, and putting his team in pole position for retaining their Champions League crown, alongside all of their other domestic successes. In the month of April, his 6 appearances for his club saw 6 goals and 1 assist as the league looks to be in their favour despite not being mathematically clinched as of yet, while his efforts in Europe have helped PSG get past Liverpool and into a first leg lead against Bayern in one of the best games of football ever seen.

Match By Match

April 3rd: PSG 3-1 Toulouse – Opening the month in style, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia didn’t get on the scoresheet in his first outing, but did get his first assist as he created PSG’s second goal of the game, putting his side ahead just before the half-time break. With a dominant second half, the game was out of reach of the visitors as Kvaratskhelia was then withdrawn early with one eye on the Champions League clashes to come. A solid 8.9/10 FotMob rating for this appearance wasn’t enough for a man of the match recognition, but a solid start to a very impressive month of football to come.

April 8th: PSG 2-0 Liverpool – With the Champions League once again looking like the priority for the French side, their quarter-final 1st leg showed their quality as they dominant against Liverpool in Paris. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia helped put the game to bed as he bagged the second inside of the second half, and with the return leg in the following week, this goal put the tie already out of reach of Liverpool. The Georgian forward claimed an impressive man of the match showing 8.5/10 FotMob rating for his effort as once again he proved his quality in the PSG attacking line.

April 14th: Liverpool 0-2 PSG – With the tie all-but done heading to Anfield, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia helped his side once again as he got his second assist of the month as PSG put the game to bed with little fuss. Although Liverpool tried pushing their way back into the game, the job was essentially done for the French side as they saw out the game in style with yet more attacking dominance. With his month low 7.7/10 FotMob rating, it will have been an average showing from the attacker, but the result and securing a spot in the semi-finals is all they needed for this one.

April 19th: PSG 1-2 Lyon – In PSG’s only loss for the month, Kvaratskhelia was only given a cameo appearance as his minutes are managed at this key point of the season. With just 31 minutes on the pitch, he did bag the goal to push PSG back into the game, but it wasn’t enough as they suffered a surprising defeat but one they were able to shake off quite easily. With an individual 8.0/10 FotMob rating, it’s a respectable display in the month, but one that perhaps takes the shine away from a near perfect month.

April 22nd: PSG 3-0 Nantes – With PSG looking to secure the league title, and coming off the disappointment against Lyon, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia was back in the XI as he played 65 minutes of their dominant win, with 2 of the 3 goals coming from the Georgian forward. With a dominant display helping his side maintain their lead in the title race, he bagged a man of the match 9.2/10 FotMob rating, with the best arguably still to come.

April 28th: PSG 5-4 Bayern Munich – After being left out of the win against Angers in the league, the first leg of the Champions League semi-final needed the key stars fresh, and they certainly were on both sides as one of the greatest games of football I’ve ever seen provided a back and forth end-to-end game that nobody wanted to end. With PSG coming out with a slender lead from the game, they were helped in no short part by Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and his 2 goals. With an 8.9/10 FotMob rating, he was one of many standouts, but his efforts wrapped up an incredible month of action for him and for PSG.
