Manchester United: Arsenal (Premier League) ✍️ Mi Manchester United: Arsenal (Premier League) ✍️

Michael Carrick just loves these big games in the dugout!

After the huge win and performance against Manchester City, an arguably trickier tie away at Arsenal who were looking comfortable both at the top of the domestic and European tables, however they were made to look poor as United bagged a 3-2 victory.

With some stunning strikes for United against the physical, set-piece nature of Arsenal, there seems to be a genuine feeling of optimism around the club despite having no European or domestic cup games, and just eyes on the Champions League spots come the end of the season.

If this is Michael Carrick’s audition for the permanent job, he is passing with flying colours so far.

Too Late? 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 With the 2026 World Cup just o Too Late? 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

With the 2026 World Cup just over 130 days away from kick-off, there are still many huge questions around the tournament, not just in terms of the actual tournament and host nation, but for England and Thomas Tuchel, the question over starting XI and spaces on the plane.

As the league has now just 15 rounds of games to go, it’s hitting a period where a late run of form for a player could well be enough to earn a spot in the squad, as Tuchel will largely stick to his big name choices, but would be sensible to take players who are in a hot streak.

With that said, it might be argued that aside from injuries, Tuchel could have a lot of his squad confirmed in his mind ahead of the final international break of the season.

As things stand, do you think anyone could produce a late burst of form to put themselves into contention for the World Cup squad? Or do you think it’s now too late to make much of a difference for Tuchel’s selection?

Who Has Control? 💼 With Manchester United among t Who Has Control? 💼

With Manchester United among the several high profile clubs in Europe to implement a structure at the top level, we are seeing a big change in football as managers become head coaches, and the director of football and team in finance are often given much more power.

As a result of this, football is potentially at a changing point, with clubs looking to younger coaches who focus mainly and heavily on the training pitch, tactical decisions and leave a lot of the operations to the boardroom.

With this change possibly putting some old school manager types out of favour, we’re already seeing a shift in the latest appointments at clubs, and this could continue to become a bigger feature of the sport.

Do you think there’s been a shift in the structure of clubs? And do you think it’s sensible for teams to operate with a higher level of management at the club, leaving the football to the coach.

Carrick In Charge 🟥 After the impressive showing Carrick In Charge 🟥

After the impressive showing last weekend, Michael Carrick has just 16 games left in his interim tenure, and given the instant impact, there’s already questions over whether he can do enough to claim the permanent job.

While some believe he’s underqualified and United should ignore emotion and form no matter the results, others could be swayed. Here’s our for and against for Carrick:

For 🟩

⬛️Instant Impact: In his 2 spells, he’s beaten some fairly big sides, and after just 3 days in charge, he out out a team that dominated their local rivals in style. Instant results and improved performances.

⬛️Knows The Club: While some club legends come with baggage, Carrick is a calm head but knows the importance of being at Manchester United, and can thrive in a pressure that cause many to crack.

⬛️Style Of Play: Carrick’s 4-4-2/4-3-3 is a perfect fit for United, with their current squad and historical style being suited to this setup in both attack and defence.

⬛️Working In Structure: Carrick can work in a hierarchy that United seem to want, and it’s hard to imagine him kicking off with the boys upstairs.

⬛️Could Be The Future: Many huge sides give former players a chance. Just look at Pep at Barcelona and Arteta at Arsenal, coming into a job with limited experience and producing at the top level.

Against 🟥

⬛️Limited Experience: Only 2 interim United spells and his time at Middlesbrough doesn’t make him fully experienced at the very top level, which could lead to questions long-term.

⬛️Bigger Names: When competing with some names post-World Cup, Carrick doesn’t come with the pedigree of other managers on the market.

⬛️Next Level: Carrick could bring some good times to United, but perhaps isn’t the one that inspires a title charge or the next 5+ years, which might make him a hard sell to fans.

Making Changes ⚽️ Despite several clubs already m Making Changes ⚽️

Despite several clubs already making managerial changes this season, the World Cup summer will mark some major upheaval in the dugouts. As it stands, it wouldn’t be ridiculous for over 50% of Premier League clubs to change their managers this summer, with some shocks to come.

Here’s a few of our summer predictions:

⬛️Xabi Alonso -> Liverpool
⬛️Enzo Maresca -> Manchester City
⬛️Thomas Frank -> Crystal Palace
⬛️Marco Silva -> Tottenham Hotspur
⬛️Julien Nagelsmann -> Manchester United

These are just a few predictions, with several others possibly in the running for a job change.

How do you see this summer playing out with managers? And who do you think will be in and out this summer?

Manchester United: Brighton & Hove Albion (FA Cup) Manchester United: Brighton & Hove Albion (FA Cup) ✍️

Manchester United will officially play just 40 games this season, after exiting both domestic cups at the first time of asking, and no European games. An abysmal display at Old Trafford against Brighton with the crowd silent due to the football being played. With Fletcher in charge again, you could be forgiven for thinking the players would play with freedom and a bit of expression, but without knowing the future of the club, the opposite occurred and players seemed to be completely off the mark for large periods.

It’s been a tough season already at United, and without anything other than a Champions League place left to play for, it’s going to be a long end to the campaign with little to celebrate.

Permanent Manager 🟥 With Amorim departing last we Permanent Manager 🟥

With Amorim departing last week, and the results since under Fletcher, Manchester United look like they’re lost at sea, and although Carrick is being called in to steady the ship if possible, it’s going to take someone special to turn around the whole machine and bring it back on course.

With United leaving it until after the World Cup to appoint their next permanent manager, there are plenty of names being thrown around, however for me I have 3 possible names I’d be happy to see given a go.

⬛️Luis Enrique: The toughest option to make happen, but one that has proven his skills as a manager at some of the toughest organisations in football, and brought success to just about everywhere he’s gone. Experienced in managing egos, working within an organisation with a hierarchy and playing good football, it’s an option worth exploring.

⬛️Julian Nagelsmann: The current Germany manager has a history with United’s current recruitment director Vivell, and has worked in the Red Bull machine which proves he can operate with a team above/alongside the manager. Still a young coach with plenty of experience in big jobs, and plays decent football.

⬛️Xavi: A manager who has been open previously about wanting the job, and given his playing career and time in charge at Barcelona, he gets the high standards expected of big clubs, but without the United baggage. He managed Barcelona during an incredibly tough time for them, and would instantly earn the respect of the players.

Who do you think should be next in line for Manchester United manager?

After a busy few days last week, from Monday’s announcement of Amorim’s departure, to Wednesday night’s game as Darren Fletcher took to the dugout for his interim to the interim spell in charge, Manchester United were left disappointed and frustrated as they were held to just a point away at Burnley, despite having full control for the majority of the clash.
