The Championship 🏆 I’m a bit ashamed to say The Championship 🏆

I’m a bit ashamed to say that despite the league entering the 13th round of fixtures this weekend, I’ve really neglected the Championship so far. Partly due to putting more focus onto the European leagues this season and what’s going on elsewhere, I haven’t really kept up to date with things in the second tier.

As a result, I want to know from anyone who watches the league more closely, what have I missed so far? Catch us up on everything we’ve been missing, and what to be looking out for as we head towards the end of 2025. Share your thoughts with us in the comments, and hopefully we can get caught up and feature more from the second division as the season plays out.

Continuing our monthly blog round-up, we’ve gone through the key action from October across Europe’s top leagues including Serie A, La Liga, Ligue 1, Bundesliga and the Eredivisie along with some off-field discussion and European competition.

In October, we had a disrupted domestic calendar with the international break, however the leagues in Italy, Spain and even France have started to form an intriguing and exciting title race, in Germany the leaders Bayern continue to look formidable, and in the Netherlands, Feyenoord remain unbeaten and looking the most likely, while PSV continue to hunt them down.

Liam Rosenior 🇫🇷 While Strasbourg’s rece Liam Rosenior 🇫🇷

While Strasbourg’s recent improvements within French football may be overlooked due to their multi-club structure with Chelsea, the work of Liam Rosenior deserves a huge amount of praise.

Getting his side into the Europa Conference League last season, they’ve made a strong start to Ligue 1 this year, and with 4 points from their opening 2 European clashes, they have also held PSG to a dramatic 3-3 draw, while playing a young and exciting XI who along with Marseille, could be able to push the inevitable PSG from their domestic perch, and make the league into a dramatic contest as possible European success could also remain a realistic target.

What are your thoughts on Rosenior’s Strasbourg this season? And do you think they could realistically compete with PSG in the division this year?

With United looking at 3 straight victories, the opposition remains a sticking point for the club, and at the end of a difficult opening run of games, it’s a big test for the improving side.

Harry Maguire 🟥 After the match winner against Harry Maguire 🟥

After the match winner against rivals Liverpool, Harry Maguire has completed his redemption from being a joke within football after harsh criticism upon his arrival at Manchester United, to now being a composed leader and example to many who want to overcome setbacks and work hard to return to the top table in the game. With his late goals becoming a big feature of United in recent years, he has also maintained a strong leadership within the club, marshalling the defensive unit and even taking the captains armband on several occasions once again.

As a result, he continues to battle for a starting spot at the club, and has even gotten people wondering if he’s worth a punt back in the England squad for next summers tournament, as England could do with a late switch for set pieces, or possibly someone with experience who can be relied upon in a similar mould to Henderson and Kane. While he likely wouldn’t be the starting centre-back, he could certainly do a job for Tuchel’s England side, especially if there’s a temptation to try out a 3-man defence.

What are your thoughts on Maguire returning to the England squad for the World Cup? Do you think they should look elsewhere? Or has he shown a useful option for the squad next summer?

While this might drop-off towards the midway point of the season, or maybe not result in any actual successes come the close of the season, it’s worth appreciating and acknowledging these players for their efforts at the early part of the campaign, which sees their clubs looking comfortable and up the table, rather than over their shoulders at the bottom.

Substance vs Content ⚽️ With every former pr Substance vs Content ⚽️

With every former pro to have stepped onto a football pitch, seemingly looking to forge a post-playing career in media, we are bombarded with podcasts, YouTube channels and everything else as they recant tales of their playing days and how good things used to be.

However, are we at risk of becoming too saturated with content? With the football schedule producing daily games across the highest level of competition, it’s hard enough to keep up with the actual on-pitch substance, but then with the off-field content also becoming a part of the mainstream, are we losing sight of the sport itself?

What are your thoughts on the increasing amount of off-field outlets putting out content? Do you think it’s good to have insider stories and reminisce over the glory days? Or is it becoming too much to keep up with, and might we see the bubble burst soon?

Manchester United: Liverpool (Premier League) ✍️

After an international break where United hoped to continue their momentum from their last outing, the trip to Anfield came at both a good and bad time. Liverpool had lost their last 3 games, however with the players at their disposal, it’s a matter of time before it clicks for them once again, and United hoped it wasn’t at their expense. Instead, what we saw was another trademark quick start from the visitors, which saw them lead early. Liverpool pushed to get back into the game and got their equaliser just before the 80 minute mark. While United fans looked down the barrel of throwing away a lead to their arch-rivals, Harry Maguire continued his redemption arc story by heading in the winner late on to give United a much-needed victory.

Coming out of the October international break, we again return to full-gear for club football until the pause again in November, and week 8 of the Premier League delivered plenty of drama and entertainment.

We had Manchester United finally win back-to-back games under Amorim as the Liverpool inquest increases, Ange Postecoglou inevitably was shown the door as the shortest Premier League managerial reign came to its expected end, and Arsenal were defensively superb as they maintained and extended their lead at the top, despite City’s efforts to hunt them down.

Answers For Tuchel ✍️ On Wednesday, we posed Answers For Tuchel ✍️

On Wednesday, we posed 5 key questions for Thomas Tuchel as England manager ahead of the 2026 World Cup, and so we figured we could help him out by providing some answers to the key questions, by producing a response of what we would like to see and hear from the man in the dugout between now and the start of the major tournament.

While some of the questions will not be answered until we are well into the 2026 World Cup tournament, it’s worth pondering what exactly can be done to help the team along, and ensure everyone is backing the team in a positive way from inside and outside of the camp.

Check out the post and let us know what thoughts and questions you have around Tuchel and England heading into next summer.

3 Years To Succeed 📆 With Sir Jim Ratcliffe p 3 Years To Succeed 📆

With Sir Jim Ratcliffe publicly backing Ruben Amorim in a recent interview, he spoke about wanting to give the manager 3 years to succeed, in order to enforce his vision and bring a sense of cohesion to the club. It’s been seen that this statement is true as the board backed huge transfer activity in the summer, and could continue to work with the manager despite the poor start to the season.

It’s a very risky call for a club who are desperately needing to return to the top table in European and world football, but actually showing support for a prolonged period is refreshing to hear in modern football. Having appointed a system based manager, it makes sense to allow time for this to sink in and prove itself, but it’s a luxury so few are offered, especially at Manchester United.

What are your thoughts on the idea of giving Amorim 3 years to prove himself? Do you think instant success is needed? Or do you back giving the manager time to embed his ideas?

Questions For Tuchel ✍️ As we exit yet anothe Questions For Tuchel ✍️

As we exit yet another international break and return to club football, we’ve seen Thomas Tuchel’s England side in action once again in the friendly vs Wales and the World Cup qualifier vs Latvia. Another interesting squad selection with some big questions, some interesting individual and team performances, and comments from Tuchel that put fans under the spotlight for their support at Wembley, it’s left us with some big things to ponder ahead of next summer.

As a result, we’ve put together our latest blog post, in which we ask 5 major questions of Thomas Tuchel and England ahead of the 2026 World Cup. If England are to go further than their Euro final failures, Tuchel will need to answer these questions and more if he can get a squad to gel, perform and overcome the 60 year wait for silverware that has befallen the national team.

Check out the post using the link in bio, and come back on Friday for a part 2, in which we offer up some answers to the questions we’ve posed.

Leaving United ❌ With Rasmus Hojlund joining Sc Leaving United ❌

With Rasmus Hojlund joining Scott McTominay at Napoli and thriving in the early stages of the season, we’ve seen Rashford produce some solid form at Barcelona, and Antony has re-settled back at Betis, the question remains... what is wrong with Manchester United?

Admittedly, the likes of Sancho and Garnacho are yet to prove themselves following moves away, but the aforementioned names have all shown their quality and freedom of playing football once again since leaving Old Trafford. For United fans it’s another infuriating aspect of their club, while it leaves a huge question over what is going wrong for the club on and off the field.

What do you think is the biggest cause in the form change from players departing Manchester United?

Will It Work? 🌲 Ange Postecoglou wasted no ti Will It Work? 🌲

Ange Postecoglou wasted no time in returning to the Premier League with Nottingham Forest, however it was always destined to be a job filled with obstacles. Having such a strong season in 24/25, Nuno hadn’t done much wrong with his on-field management, with only the apparent off-field disagreements becoming a sticking point. As a result, the new manager in the dugout has to maintain last seasons form, a European campaign and an owner who is unpredictable to say the least.

With Ange failing to produce any significant performances let alone results in his early time at the club, he is already being rumoured to be out of the club, with a potential that his spell could become the shortest in Premier League history, while Sean Dyche awaits in the background.

Do you think Ange will be given more time at Forest? Or do you think he will be out before the club game returns? Also, if Ange is sacked, where does this leave his standing in the Premier League, after a poor domestic showing at Spurs and the subsequent failure at Forest, could that be him done at the top of English football?
