Euro 2024 AI Predicts

Euro 2024 AI Predicts

For the past few international tournaments since AI became accessible we’ve put it to the test to make predictions for how the tournaments will play out, with varied success.

Across the years it’s gone off track on many occasions, often bringing in teams from outside the competition, predicting players to score who retired long ago and just having surprising outcomes for the correct games taking place.

Despite these previous attempts going a little off-track, with the improvements made to AI since the last World Cup predictions, we’ve given it another shot to predict Euro 2024, with much more realistic expectations this time around.

There’s still a few errors creeping into the predictions as you’ll see as you read on, but the predictions are actually quite sound, and the expected winner is also very believable would some decent reasoning.

Have a look below at how AI believes all the games will play out up to and including the final, and let us know if it differs from your own predictions for any of the outcomes for the tournament.

France’s Strengths: France has a well-balanced squad with a mix of experienced players and emerging talent. Their attacking options, including players like Kylian Mbappé and Antoine Griezmann, combined with a solid defence led by Raphael Varane, make them formidable opponents. Their experience in recent international finals (e.g., 2018 World Cup champions, 2016 Euro finalists) also gives them an edge.

Belgium’s Strengths: Belgium boasts a golden generation of players, including Kevin De Bruyne, Romelu Lukaku, and Eden Hazard. Their attacking prowess is complemented by a solid midfield and defence. However, they have historically struggled in the latter stages of major tournaments.

Match Dynamics: This final is expected to be closely contested. France’s tactical discipline and ability to perform in big matches could give them the slight edge needed to overcome Belgium’s attacking threats.
