POTM: Europe (March 2026)

March has been a busy and sometimes disjointed month of footballing action, with domestic league and cup games being sandwiched by European competitions, and then the final week being taken for international duties. With this schedule being the start of the run-in from March onwards, the teams across Europe’s top leagues have been keen to either cement their standing, or push on further to end the season in style.
Deniz Undav has taken his form to another level for Stuttgart this month, with a total of 6 goals and 2 assists in his 6 appearances in all competitions, a top run of form considering he is in a league usually dominated by Bayern and Kane in the goal standings. His efforts have seen Stuttgart go on an unbeaten domestic run, with their Europa League exit really the only negative to take from March’s action.

Match By Match
March 1st: VfB Stuttgart 4-0 Wolfsburg – Undav took just 21 minutes before he opened the scoring for the month in the first of a 4 goal hammering of strugglers Wolfsburg. With the game 3-0 up by half-time, Stuttgart had secured the points early and kick-started an unbeaten league run with plenty more goals to come for the German forward.
March 7th: Mainz 05 2-2 VfB Stuttgart – In their next outing, Undav was once again on the scoresheet, as he turned provider in the equalising goal to make the game 1-1, before adding a goal of his own just a minute later. Although Stuttgart couldn’t hold on to the lead as they conceded a late equalizer in stoppage time, Undav proved his influence in putting the game back in Stuttgart’s favour, and ensuring their unbeaten league run could continue.
March 15th: VfB Stuttgart 1-0 RB Leipzig – Despite their first leg defeat to Porto in the Europa League in which Undav bagged Stuttgart’s only goa, they returned to Bundesliga action with a chance to put this behind them which they took perfectly. With another Undav difference making goal in the second half, his strike settled what had proven to be a close and sometimes cagey battle.
March 22nd: Augsburg 2-5 VfB Stuttgart – After the disappointing defeat to Porto in their Europa League second leg, which was the only Undav performance without a goal in the month, they more than made up for this to round off the Bundesliga action as the away clash with Augsburg became the Undav show. He bagged 2 goals and 1 assist in the performance, bringing his tally to 6 goals and 2 assists for the month, and secured an unbeaten domestic run leading into the international break.
